We're counting down to Christmas in true papercrafting style this year! Lara Watson's adorable 3D advent calendar has been cunningly created from decorated matchboxes, each hiding a different advent delight inside them. Check out Papercraft inspirations issue 105 for how to make the complete calendar, or click the link below to taking a little peek inside some of the boxes…
Lara explains that using matchboxes is a great method for making a calendar,
"The beauty of sliding boxes is that you can wrap twine, ribbon or embroidery floss all the way around, which is a nifty way to hold buttons in place. Mix and match in size for a varied look.
Don't be scared to use embellishments that are slightly bigger than your boxes. Overlap with ready-made felt shapes covered in buttons and stitches for lots of layered texture."
